PATTERN DESCRIPTION
The Riley Jumper is a textured raglan jumper (sweater) in sizes from newborn to 12 years. Designed to be extra warm from the texture and to look much like a traditional ribbed jumper. A wardrobe workhorse, it is a quick knit and perfect for charity and everyday knitting alike.

The jumper is intended to be a fairly slim fit, with extra length included in the pattern. Approximately 2-4 cm of positive ease is built into the pattern.

There are instructions for optional modifications for the sleeves, buttonband and to show the reverse of the pattern (see modifications below)

CONSTRUCTION
Knitted from the top down, the raglan yoke is worked back and forward until the sleeve separation round. The sleeves are put on hold and the body is joined in the round by knitting the raglan button bands together. The remaining body is worked in the round until the desired length and finished with a garter stitch band.

Sleeve stitches are then placed back onto needles and worked in the round, with decreases for shaping, and finally a garter stitch cuff is worked to finish off. The jumper will benefit from blocking out to the desired width.

OPTIONS
Pattern includes several modification options, including:

  • short or long sleeves
  • for sizes 4+ an option to omit the buttonband (this also makes the pattern fully reversible)
  • a note about buttonholes if the knitter wants the reverse of the fabric to be on the outside
