I’ve always loved the ocean and when I picked up this skein it reminded me of sitting at the beach as a child with my family and watching the foamy waves move forward and backwards over the sand, crashing over each other.

The Rippling Waves Sock is a toe-up sock pattern featuring a patterned toe, german short row heel, and a ripple motif achieved through 1x1 cables and twisted knit stitches, finishing with a 2x2 rib cuff.

It comes in 4 sizes (6’’ - 9’’ total sock circumference). I suggest you pick a size with 1-1.5’’ negative ease.

For the sample pictured I used A Hundred Raven’s Patos. You can use any fingering weight sock yarn.

Skill level: Beginner - Intermediate (requires basic knowledge of sock knitting and how to make short rows). The pattern is written for the magic loop technique but you can use DPNs or mini circulars.

Both written and chart instructions are provided.

Stitches and techniques used:
Judy’s Magic Cast on,
Knit and purl stitches
Twisted knit stitch (knitting through the back loop)
M1R and M1L in both knitting and purling (instructions provided)
