This little hat was born on a blustery day in April 2025, as spring was trying to establish itself, but winter’s last icy torment hurled a week of ice storms at us here in Canada, destroying a large number of trees in our neighbourhood. As I walked through the devastation in the aftermath, I caught glimpses of new life: trees sprouting green despite being incomprehensibly broken, and robins sitting atop crestfallen trees singing the heralds of spring, which reminded me of the resilience of nature, and of ourselves. A few short days afterwards, Easter arrived and along with it, news of a dear friend on his third battle with cancer. He amazed me with his stories of resilience and Love, and inspired me to continue on my own journey of resurrection. The phoenix rising from its own ashes is always stronger than it was in its previous incarnation. We are all facing challenges these days, personally and collectively. May we find the resolve to make something out of the ashes, rising to the renewal of life, stronger and grander, steeped in the Love of all things!
