Risku – Brooch

Silver holds strong symbolic significance in Sámi culture and has traditionally been associated with protection. One of the pieces of silver jewelry most strongly associated with Sámi tradition is the risku, or brooch. Its shape is said to symbolize the sun’s journey across the skies of Sápmi.

Risku is worked from the top down with a circular yoke shaped with increases. The sweater can be worked with either a cropped or regular body length.
