River and Twine Qiviuk Scarf
During Stitches West 2013, I did something that every knitter ought to try: pick up a ball of luxurious qiviuk yarn to knit something special all for myself. That walnut-sized skein of gray qiviuk blend cost nearly $30 and didn’t look like much, but it was the softest thing I had ever had on my needles.
I wanted to make something that would use every last bit of the yarn, and also something that would make the most of the tiny ball of yarn, so I knitted up this lace scarf on larger needle for volume and an airy fabric with drape. At the end, I had a few yards of qiviuk left and so, not wanting to waste one bit of that yarn, used those last few yards as an afterthought edging.
The garter stitch border means that the scarf can stand on its own, so you can knit this either with or without the edging, depending on how much yarn you have left.
Many thanks to bluroux and neshi for help with testing.
