River Trail Hat is a hat that is worked from the brim to the crown in the round. It has an unusual cable pattern. This design works beautifully with your favorite worsted or aran wool yarn. The ribbed edge paired with the cable pattern gives this pattern some stretch for a comfortable fit.

Recently I had the pleasure of hiking the Little River Trail in the Elkmont area of the Great Smoky Mountains. I saw a beautiful black bear dipping his paws in the stream. It is a wonderful, easy hike where you can usually see lots of wildlife. This trail happens to be one of the prime viewing spots for the synchronous fireflies in early summer, too. Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but be sure to bring your knitted hat since it gets chilly in the mountains.
