Looking for a knit you can work on a road trip? Want a knit you can wear multiple ways while on a road trip? Either way, this is the knit for you! Road Trip Tee is an excellent object for an adventurous beginner knitter or someone dipping their toes into garment knitting for the first time. That said, the seasoned knitter will appreciate the custom sizing and options for different looks.
Whether you like cropped tops with dresses and high waisted pants, or hip length for anyday comfort, you can knit this tee for your perfect match.
Road Trip Tee is designed to have a Stockinette side and a simple lace side seamed together for a reversible object. However, you can mix and match sides for all Stockinette or all lace.
Other options include adding short rows for bust darts on a designated front side and/or adding short rows just below neckline to a designated back side.

Construction notes: This tee is knit flat in two pieces, bottom up, and seamed at the shoulders and sides. Width and length are customizable for preferred ease and fit. This tee can be knit with lace, fingering, or sport weight yarn, both sides in same weight/yarn or one side lace and one side fingering or sport. It is reversible unless you choose to add short rows that designate a front and back.

Gauge:
18 sts and 24 rws in St st, knit flat, after blocking = 4in or 10cm.
Gauge is the same for lace and fingering weight. It is knit at a looser gauge to be a lighter weight tee

Needles:
US# 8/5mm or size to obtain gauge, recommended 22” (56cm) + cord

Yarn:
1-2 skeins of fingering or light sport weight yarn, approximately 260yds – 430yds (238m – 394m)
1-2 skeins of lace weight yarn, approximately 260yds-430yds (238 – 394m)
total yardage – 520yds – 860yds (476m – 787m) You can knit both sides in lace or fingering weight yarn if preferred, please note this will change your yarn needs for that particular weight of yarn
Most sizes can be knit with one, 100g skein of yarn or less for each side, a total of two skeins or less.

Finished measurements for each side: 20”, 24”, 28”, 32” & 36” (51cm, 61cm, 71cm, 81cm, & 91cm) wide
to fit bust/chest circumference 28” – 68” (71cm – 173cm)
length: 16”, 18”, 20”, & 22” (40.5cm, 46cm, 51cm, & 56cm)
Recommend 4”-12” (10cm – 31cm) of positive ease at largest part of chest

First sample is made in Madtosh Sport and Madtosh silk cloud, size 2 (24”), and 16” length. It does not have bust darts or short rows at the back neck and is modeled with 8” of positive ease

Second sample is made with Treasure Goddess Bamboo Linen and had both bust darts and short rows at the back neck. It is a size 2 (24”), and 18” length modeled with 8” of positive ease
