A great knit for those times when the brain is a little preoccupied with life, the Rough Patch Hat features a fun and textured knot stitch combined with rows of stockinette. This combination allows for just enough interest to keep the project moving, but not so much that it overwhelms.

Pattern includes both written directions and a video tutorial on creating the knot stitch. There is also a companion cowl available -
The Rough Patch Cowl.

Available in four sizes
-Toddler (to fit 17-18 inch head circumference)
-Child/Teen (to fit 19-20 inch head circumference)
-Adult Medium (to fit 21-22 inch head circumference)
-Adult Large (to fit 23-24 inch head circumference)

A Note about Sizing : These size recommendations are based on 2-3 inches of negative ease. To achieve the best fitting hat I highly recommend measuring the recipient’s head circumference. It is not uncommon for adults to have only a 20 inch head circumference. If the finished hat is for an adult with a smaller head, you may need to make the child/teen size as far as stitch count, but the hat depth of the adult medium size.

Yardage listed above reflects using DK weight yarn, however, the pattern can also be made by holding two strands of fingering weight together. If fingering weight is used, total yardage would be 260 -350 yards.
