Rutekåpe / Plaiditude coat is a warm and casual outerwear garment for little adventurers. The plaid pattern gives it a classical, almost timeless look – although brighter colors will give it a playful expression!

Sizes: 1 (2) 3-4 (5-6) years.
Coat circumference: 57 (61) 65 (71) cm
Length: 45 (50) 55 (63) cm

Gauge: 17 stitches x 23 rows in stockinette stitch worked flat = 10 x 10 cm

Suggested needles:
4.5 mm US 7 circular needle (40, 60, 80 and/or 100 cm).
4.5 mm US 7 double pointed needles (unless you use magic-loop).
4.0 mm US 6 circular needle for fold-over edge.
2.5 mm US 1.5 circular needle (80 or 100 cm) for button band

Crochet hook for vertical stripes: 4 mm US G-6

Recommended yarn: Luna Lamullgarn (100 g = 200 m) from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk

Estimated yarn quantity:
200 (300) 300 (400) grams = 400 (600) 600 (800) meters of main colour for the
coat.
50 grams = 100 meters of contrast-colour 1 for plaids.
50 grams = 100 meters of contrast-colour 2 for plaids.
Exact yarn quantities used for each size by the test knitters is available in the pattern.

Notions: 6-9 buttons (12-15 mm)

Level of difficulty: Intermediate. There are no complicated techniques in the pattern, but you need to make sure to read the pattern carefully as you knit.
