This hat is named after the asteroid with the same name “Ryugu”. Ryugu is a diamond shaped asteroid of the Apollo Asteroid group. I was struggling to come up with an name for this hat since I knit my first version of it. I happened to be working on my second version of this hat while helping my daughter study for a test on asteroids and comets for her High School Astronomy class and the name just seemed to fit.
