This pattern is for a Sacred Heart of Jesus filet banner, perfect for your home altar, or decorating at church, or any wall for others to see your expression of your faith. It is made using filet crochet, and features a unique braided surface stitch that you can learn how to do here (the link is included in the pattern as well)

If you are new to filet crochet, there is a link included in the pattern to help you understand how to make it. This particular filet pattern is vertically symmetrical, so that if you forget if you are crocheting left to right, or right to left, it won’t matter with this pattern.

You will also need a 12” or longer dowel rod if you want to hang this as pictured.

The pattern also includes a video instruction about how to make the chainless foundation row, which I encourage, but is not required. It gives the piece a more finished edge, and is easier than counting many foundation chains.

This pattern includes a chart, as well as written pattern directions where I have given a little more direction to help you learn how to read filet crochet patterns. X represents a square that is filled, while O represents a square that is open.

Please do not sell or give out free copies of this pattern, but you can do whatever you would like with the finished products. These would make great gifts, and if you sell them I would love to be mentioned as the designer.
