The Safu hat was designed to accompany the From Above shawl.

This pattern gives you instructions on how to make a custom fit hat, no matter what size your head is. The rim is worked flat in garter stitch to form the base of the hat. Short rows in contrasting colour form an interesting pattern at the front.

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 2 skeins of Knitlob’s Lair Tuulen Tytär
(100% Superwash Merino); 437yd 400m - 100g)
in 2 different colours.
Approx. 265 yd 240 m of fingering weight yarn.

The sample was knit in 2 colourways:
MC: Kaipuu,
CC: Utu.

You’ll need
220yd 200m 50g of MC,
45yd 40m 10g of CC.

Needles:
US 1.5 2,5 mm needles,
US 2.5 16’’ 3,0 mm 40 cm circular needle and DPN’s.
Adjust needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
Other: Crochet hook and waste yarn for the cast-on, 1 removable stitch marker, 4 stitch markers, tapestry needle, blocking aids.

GAUGE:
30 stitches and 44 rows = 4” 10cm in garter stitch.
