The Sage Bunny hat celebrates the eco-culture of the Taos area – funky, fun, not always PC! Taos has long been an incubator for creativity, invention, and independence – the harsh climate, remote location and limited access to “modern” resources required early inhabitants to have all these traits. In the 1960s Taos ecoculture took off with the influx of new settlers (most folks called them hippies) who created EarthShip communities and communes . This culture, that reaches the sky from the heart, is still alive and well. Our wonderful local sage bunnies have so much to teach us about respecting the land we love and respecting our right to express ourselves in our own, unique ways.

Use any leftover yarn you have, and mix and match crazy colors and textures for a funky, fun hat. Or make it nice and pretty – your choice! A tassle or pompom is a fun way to finish the hat and uses up even more scrap yarn and doesn’t have to match.

Instructions for 3 sizes are given. My beautiful neighbor Anna models the large in both the basic and alternate versions.
