Saltmarsh Shawl
Introductory offer of 20% discount applies when you purchase this pattern, valid until midnight April 13th (CT).
Light and airy, with a band of kid mohair so soft to the touch, this design is perfect for breezy spring/summer days. Inspired by the saltmarsh tidal flats of the Bay of Fundy (Chignecto Bay), channels of blue water irrigate the dyked, lush-green marshland. A leafy lace pattern suggestive of tall grasses dominates the surface, with a line of deeply rooted flora shown in silhouette above the zigzag tidal backdrop. The mohair halo lends such an ethereal quality to the concept (imagine mist rising off the water)!
This design is ideal for pairing single skeins of hand-dyed fingering-weight yarn alongside a mohair complement - create your own unique landscape from your stash.
Construction
The triangle-shaped shawl is knit top down, with increases on every RS row worked at the edges and on each side of the centre stitch. The shawl begins with a tab cast-on. Three lace patterns -“saltmarsh”, “flora” and “tidewater” - comprise the overall design. The pattern includes complete row-by-row instructions with stitch counts, and accompanying charts. After a few repeats of the lace stripes, you will have the saltmarsh pattern memorized!

Gauge is not critical for this pattern. You can increase your shawl’s size proportionally without having to make pattern changes by going up 1-3 needle sizes. Swatch and use the needles that give you the tension and drape you like. Remember to adjust your yarn quantities if opting for a larger size.
