This is a chart with instructions for knitting a 4ply seamless sachet or pouch to be filled with a small amount of fragrant lavender on 2mm needles, or a 12” x12” cushion using DK weight yarn and 4mm needles. It is knitted in one piece and grafted together using Kitchener stitch. The chart features a Saluki or Persian Greyhound on the front, and the cushion has stars on the reverse. Once knitted, it can be suitably embellished with tassels, beads embroidery….. whatever grabs your fancy!

If you own a fluffy Saluki (my Bear is a Saluki x Greyhound & very fluffy) and you can spin or if you know a friendly spinner, you could knit the Saluki in REAL Saluki yarn! Otherwise, Drops Alpaca 4ply yarn gives a very good imitation!

I used various hoarded leftovers from luxury sock projects, to knit my sachets. The bling on the collar of the hand spun Saluki sachet, came from a dismantled earring, a jumble sale find. The tassels…. I improvised by winding small amounts of yarn around an old silver cake fork!

If you didn’t want to make a lavender sachet, the resulting bag could easily be made into a small pouch, by the addition of some extra rows and a drawstring closure, omitting the Kitchener stitch of course!
