Samara
The Samara hat is a celebration of fall. The smooth v-shaped samara seeds and textured leaves create a neat contrast against the twisted ribbing and purl backgrounds.
It is a flexible pattern; you can make the Samara either a beanie or a slouchy hat by adjusting the length of the ribbing.
The Cabled Cast On creates an almost invisible cast on edge that stretches smoothly with the ribbing. The shaping of the hat is done with hidden decreases as to not detract from the overall design. Techniques used are Cabled Cast On, twisted ribbing, yarn overs, bobbles, cables, and cables combined with decreases.
