The Sanquhar pattern is a variety of patterns developed over the past few hundred years, in the former Royal Burgh of Sanuqhar. A small town in Dumfriesshire south Scotland, not far from where I live.
Traditionally the colours were black and white, generally highly contrasting colours and knitted into gloves and stockings using the patterns. They were a way to help supplement household incomes. The Sanquhar design has been handed down from generation to generation to this day.

This pattern is called The Shepherds Plaid. It comes with two choices of pattern, a small and large design. And gives a small bit of history about the pattern.
