These Santa Lucia dolls were made to celebrate Saint Lucy’s Day, a popular Swedish feast day held on the 13th of December. The festival honors Lucia of Syracuse, who is thought to have brought food and help to the persecuted Christians hiding in the Roman catacombs. Legend says that she wore a candle lit wreath on her head, both to light her way and leave her hands free to carry food. I hope this design brings you comfort, joy and inspiration this holiday season.
