On one occasion, a work assignment took me out to Savannah, Georgia and I had the pleasant experience of getting to see the historic district and its beautiful Victorian era architecture. The color scheme of this hat reminded me of a cushion I saw in one of those stately homes, and when I’m wearing it, I feel as fancy as those homes looked.

The yarn used on this sample is my own handspun, and is equivalent to a light fingering. I have not recommended any commercial yarns because I have not tested them myself, but any 100% wool or wool blend in a light fingering to fingering weight should yield similar results. I would not recommend a plant-based or heavily silk-based yarn for the ribbed brim because it depends on negative ease to fit, and will stretch out and not recover in those yarns. However the body of the hat can be in any fiber you choose, as it will not impact fit.
