Promises, wishes, hopes and devotions,
All sealed with kisses in wordless emotion.

Kisses on photos of those gone, not forgotten,
Kisses of care when your day has been rotten.

Kisses from raindrops and the spray from sea breeze,
Kisses from petals falling from trees.

Magic kisses for scraped knees and bumped heads,
Kisses for pets curled up in their beds.

Kisses of comfort from soft cosy quilts,
Kisses to honour the love that you’ve built.

Kisses goodbye that come far too soon,
Kisses scattered, showered, sprinkled and strewn.

This hat is scattered in kisses just like our poem. The pattern contains three sizes, child/ adult small, medium, and large. There’s enough detail in the pattern to keep the knitting interesting, but nothing that should be too tricky for a new knitter to master. This timeless design would look beautiful in almost any yarn, a tonal or lightly speckled yarn will really show off the kisses. I have knit mine with a fingering weight yarn and a lace weight mohair held together but DK weight works beautifully too.

You will need approximately 50g (60g, 70g) of fingering weight yarn - I used Beehive Yarns Bardot 80% super wash merino, 20% nylon 100g/365m in Turkish Delight
and 15g (20g, 25g) of lace weight mohair - I used Beehive Yarns Pattie 72% kid mohair and 28% silk 50g/420m in Turkish Delight
Yarns are held doubled throughout.

60g (70g, 80g) of DK weight yarn held singly.

Bear in mind if you choose to knit a slouchy version you will need more yarn

Needles

A set of 3.5mm and 4mm needles for knitting a small circumference in the round or size needed to obtain gauge. You will need DPN’s or a long circular needle when you are working the crown decreses.
