Vintage Harvest Socks
Twilight falls and lanterns glow,
Through the vines we wander, slow,
Autumn’s magic softly found
Spells of harvest all around.
Inspired by a trip to the pumpkin patch on a chilly Autumnal afternoon, the focus of these socks is the whimsical layered cuff. There is no sewing involved to join the layers together, just knitting. Pumpkins and their curling vines delicately sit at the cuff moving into a basket weave pattern down the rest of the sock. The final details are an eye of partridge heel and a rounded toe, two of my favourite elements for a well fitting sock. I used a vintage inspired colour palette for my socks but they would look wonderful in classic, bright Halloween-y colours, or how about a speckle or self-striping yarn for the ‘basket’ part of the sock. I can’t wait to see what colours you use for this playful design.
