Are you ready for more lace knitting? This half-circle shawl is a joy to knit and will guide you through four different lace patterns.

Skill level
If you know how to purl and knit, and can recognize your stitches, you can knit this shawl. No previous lace knitting experience required.

Yarn
The Scent of the Pine Shawl is knit out of G-uld DK Scottish Lambswool (600m/100g), which is now discontinued, but their new base No 4 will be a good alternative.
If you are choosing a heavier weight yarn, be sure to have some more meterage. My shawl took 936 meters.

If you’re knitting this shawl with Scheepjes Whirl, be sure to have a matching Whirlette handy if you run out of yarn.

Needles / Gauge
I knit this shawl on 3mm needles. The goal is to get a fabric that drapes nicely, but is not too holey. I knit pretty loosely, so you may find that you get the best result with 3.5mm needles. For this pattern I wouldn’t pay too close attention to gauge, as long as you get a fabric that you like.

Size
If you follow the pattern as it is written, your finished shawl will be approx. 150cm (59”) wide and 66cm (26”) deep. I’ve included instructions on how to make the shawl even larger if you wish.
