This pattern is for a beanie to match the Schuyler Fingerless Mittens Pattern. Together they make a comfortable set for men and women alike. The beanie is working in the round starting with a tubular cast on. There are instructions on how to proceed with a different cast on if one prefers not to do the tubular method. Step by step instructional videos are included as well as written instructions. Latvian braids add a beautiful accent and I have found this patten great for showing off my handspun yarns as the accent color. You need a main color and a contrasting accent color. I used Malabrigo Worsted in natural for my main color and either some of my hand spun or Malabrigo Worsted in anniversario as my accent color. Any worsted weight (#4) yarns should work well with this pattern. I needed 40 to 65 grams for my Main and 10 to 15 grams for my accent color. I used a size 7 circular needle to obtain 24 stitches and 28 rows per 4 inches. Sizes measure x-small = 18 inches; Small =20 inches; Medium =21 inches and Large =22 inches. There are instructions on increasing or decreasing the body of the beanie before the crown to get your preferred fit.
