UPDATED 5/16/23: Minor tweaks to the pattern and formatting for readability, added some additional photos to the end of the pattern.

Tools and Materials
• US size 7 and size 9 circular needles, whatever length you’re most comfortable with - I used 14”
o Using two (2) sets of needles is optional, but people seem to prefer the brim to be a little tighter and then the size 9s make the body of the hat a bit looser since the design is not very stretchy
• US size 9 DPNs (4 of them), or whatever size you used for the body of the hat
• worsted weight yarn in black, gray, pink, and a contrasting color of your choice, which will be referred to as BG – feel free to use other colors, these are just suggestions!
• yarn needle, for closing the top/weaving in ends
• crochet hook (optional, for weaving in ends)
• a stitch marker (optional, but recommended for the crown)

Gauge: Approximately 4 sts/inch and 4 rows/inch if completed as patterned. This will give you a nice, average-sized hat for teens and adults that stretches to about 11” across (22” circumference) and 10” tall. If you want to attempt a smaller size, try dropping a needle size and/or using sport or DK yarn. For a longer hat, you can lengthen the brim or add more k rnds before beginning the dec rnds for the crown.

Skills Needed
• knitting in the round (rnd)
• colorwork knitting – tension, carrying floats, etc.

Abbreviations
• k: knit
• k1p1: knit 1, purl 1
• k2tog: knit 2 together
• St/sts: stitch/stitches
• Rnd/rnds: round/rounds
• CO: cast on

** There are NO REFUNDS for PATTERN purchases SO DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY PURCHASE THIS THINKING IT IS A COMPLETED HAT. **
