The Sea Star motif is a 5 round blanket square that looks like a starfish or sand dollar. Use bright colors to make it tropical, or natural colors for a more beachy vibe. Use just two colors for a graphic star pattern.

Finished Size / Gauge:
Using aran weight yarn with 6mm hook, my finished motif was 9” square. After completing round 2, piece should measure 8” from one star-point to the star-point directly across from it. Alternatively, use you preferred weight of yarn with corresponding hook size to make a square that is larger or smaller.

The written pattern is just for the block - from there you can do whatever you like with it! It has an unusual construction with a few oddball stitches (extended double crochet, double treble crochet, extended double treble crochet), but overall is not terribly complicated. May not be best for beginners but certainly anyone is welcome to give it a shot.

Please do not copy or reproduce this pattern - it is my own design that I am offering for free so it is accessible to everyone. It’s yours to use to make and/or sell objects but please credit me.

Enjoy!
