Seal Hat
The seal hat is a thin hat with a design inspired by seals playing in water. This one is for the marine mammal lovers!
The pattern has three different sizes to choose from with a circumference of 54, 57 and 60 cm.
The pattern features both diagrams and written instructions of the diagram, so you can choose your preference. The technique is stranded color work, and require you to work with two colors simultaneously. You will also have to catch the floats on the back of the work since there will be some space between the colors.
You will need circular needles 40 cm of 2 mm, 2,5 mm or 3 mm depending on your gauge. The brim should be knitted with half a size down. Meaning if you hit the gauge with a 3 mm needle, the brim should be knitted with a 2,5 mm needle. You will also need double pointed needles with the same size as you use for the body of the hat. You will need them during decreases.
You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needles to sew in the ends and sow the top of the hat. Adding a pompom is optional (the pattern does not describe how to make one).
When knitted in Sandnes Sunday (50 g = 235 meters) one ball of yarn for each color is sufficient in all sizes.
