I designed the Seattle Slouch Beanie for one of my best friends, who lives in Seattle and asked me to make her a hat with just the right amount of slouch. Something she could simply throw on and wear all day. Something easy. Something that would go with everything. Something comfortable and cozy. All of those elements were incorporated into this design. Have fun making one of your own that’s just right for you!

Materials needed:

This pattern is written for use with bulky or worsted yarn. Please see the specifications for each below.

For bulky:

Bulky/size 5 yarn, approximately 160 yards (146 m) total
For bulky yarn selection, I recommend using Mecha by Malabrigo Yarn for its gorgeous drape. Barcelona by Loops & Threads Yarn and Scarfie by Lion Brand Yarn also work well.

US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular knitting needles

US 10.5 (6.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular knitting needles

US 10.5 (6.5 mm) Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or US 10.5 (6.5 mm) circular knitting needles with a longer cord for Magic Loop Method

For worsted:

Worsted/Size 4 yarn, approximately 180 yards (165 m) total
For worsted yarn selection, I recommend Rios by Malabrigo Yarn or Basic Stitch Anti Pilling by Lion Brand Yarn. Jewelspun (an Aran yarn) by Sirdar Yarn also works well.

US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular knitting needles

US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular knitting needles

US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or US 9 (5.5 mm) circular knitting needles with a longer cord for Magic Loop Method

For both bulky and worsted:
