A child version of this pattern, Elevenses, is available here.

Inspired by the Hobbits’ way of life, this cardigan is the epitome of coziness, with its beautiful shawl collar, textured pockets and faux elbow patches. I can easily picture a hobbit wearing it and enjoying a late-morning snack while writing a book of adventures or invitations to a birthday party!

CONSTRUCTION:

This cardigan is worked top-down, seamlessly and features knit-in pockets. The sleeves are separated from the body at underarm level. The body is continued flat, the sleeves are worked in the round, with “faux” elbow patches. Stitches are picked up along the fronts and the neckline to work the shawl collar and button bands in one piece, using German short rows (link to video tutorial in the pattern). The pocket linings require some seaming.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Casting on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, working short rows (explanations/link to video tutorial provided), binding off.
