Designed and knitted for a friend who was going to Alaska to see the Northern Lights - and see them she did; you can see her photos! This reversible scarf is quick and easy to knit, but there’s enough going on that it won’t be boring. The stitches are basic knit and purl, the pattern is easy to memorize, and it’s a perfect project for social knitting - you know, knit a little, a sip of wine or coffee, knit a bit, a few bites of a nice little snack, then knit some more. The pattern is written, not charted, and is suitable for a beginning knitter.

We have seen the daily viciousness of Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the almost unbelievable suffering of the Ukrainian people, and like many people I have wondered what I can do to help. So beginning from February 24, the date of the invasion, all sales from my shop will be donated to Medicines Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) and their work in Ukraine. The Russians have targeted medical facilities there.
From their website: “MSF has a longstanding presence in Ukraine, including in parts of the eastern region that have been affected by armed conflict since 2014… MSF staff in Ukraine are delivering urgent medical supplies, training health workers on managing mass casualty incidents, running mobile clinics, and organizing medical evacuations of hospitalized patients from the east to the west of the country.”
