Yarn yardage is very approximate for an item this small. One full skein may produce several hats.

Solid color is recommended for showcasing the textures and your knitting skills.

The pattern instructions may look overly complicated, but that is my effort to anticipate and answer user questions. (It’s kind of a danger when a writer of books writes a knitting pattern!) Once you have worked the pattern once, the second and subsequent hats should go faster and seem less complex. The color chart on page 6 is intended to help you see how the design features align with respect to one another.
