The Seedy Mittens were designed with a yarn bundle from Gaspereau Valley Fibre Farm in Nova Scotia. The seeding stitch pattern comes from Shelia MacGregor’s Traditional Fair Isle Knitting book. Suitable for the knitter with some experience; the short pattern repeat makes it easy to adjust length of both the hand and the thumb.

Size:
Adult S-M: length 28cm/11”, outer circumference 22cm/8”.
Adjust size by adjusting gauge.

Yarn:
100g PC and 50g BC heavy fingering/light sport weight wool
Samples shown use Gaspereau Valley Fibres Cotswold sport weight, in natural and variegated handdyed, and
Rosa Pomar Vovo, in Dark Blue (BC) with Light Blue (PC).

Tools:
Samples knit on 3.0mm needles. Use needles that give the correct gauge. Use preferred type for small-circumference knitting (dpns, 2 circs, long circ).
2 ring stitch markers
Darning needle
Scissors

Gauge:
31 sts x 31 rnds = 4”/10cm in stranded knitting, blocked

PLEASE NOTE: The Vovo sample used almost all of one 50g ball of the dark blue wool; if adjustments are made a second ball may be required, or, as my tester did, consider using a two colour ribbing
