A simple handwarmer design, made in the round in one piece with a separate branch for the thumb. This uses the lemon peel stitch pattern to provide a sturdy fabric with an interesting surface texture. While written for an adult size, there are instructions on how to customise for your hand size. Available in UK crochet terminology, this pattern is suitable for beginners.

Materials

3.5mm crochet hook

This pattern was designed using Scheepjes Stone Washed in Boulder Opal (main colour) and Axinite (contrast edges). This is an sport weight yarn, 78% cotton and 22% acrylic. If using this yarn you will need 2 balls of Boulder Opal and 1 ball of Axinite. Alternatively, you will need approximately 180m of sport weight yarn for your main colour, and 20m of your contrast colour.

Sizing and gauge

Size is easily modified for this pattern, and guidance is given on how to produce wider/longer handwarmers. In lemon peel stitch, the gauge for this pattern is 20 stitches and 20 rows per 10cm.
