Shabbat Socks
The Shabbat Socks were inspired by the warm, cozy feeling of lighting candles on a Friday night with family and friends. Although this sock pattern is inspired by a Jewish tradition, you do not have to be Jewish to knit these socks!
Sizing: S (M, L)
S: 44 sts, 7” / 18 cm foot circumference
M: 48 sts, 8” / 20 cm foot circumference
L: 52 sts, 9” / 23 cm foot circumference
Gauge (1” x 1”) (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm)
6 sts by 9 rows worked in stockinette in the round before blocking.
Techniques
• Long-tail cast on (or your preferred cast on method)
• Stranded colorwork
• Heel flap and gusset
• Kitchener stitch
Materials
• Approx. 100g DK weight yarn for MC, 20g yarn for each CC
o I used Isabelle Fiber Co. DK weight MCN (70% merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon) (246 yd (224 m)/100g)
• 3.25 mm (US size 3) 9” (23 cm) circular needles (optional, but I recommend 9” (23 cm) circulars for the foot of the sock to avoid ladders!) (or size required for gauge)
• 3.25 mm (US size 3) DPN’s or 32” (80 cm) needles for magic loop (for toe and heel) (or size required for gauge)
• Stitch markers (3) and darning needle
• Ruler or tape measure
