Can be used as a shawl or bedrunner, or a decorative piece. A great piece for using up odd balls of the same gauge yarn.

46cm wide, 180cm long

12 colours, 27 different stitches

You will need:
Aran cotton yarn in various colours. I used Scheepjes Cahlista in amethyst, apple green, baby blue, black coffee, blue bird, cyan, deep ocean, ruby, soft beige, spruce, ultramarine, yellow gold

I haven’t detailed the amounts as I don’t want to be too prescriptive- I used 200-300g of the more dominant colours, less than 100g of shades such as the yellow. But pick colours that appeal to you or that you want to use up!

Guidelines
For some stitches, you may need to add 1-2 stitches to have the right count for your pattern – make sure these extra stitches are spread evenly across your width, to maintain the rectangular shape.
When using a stitch pattern which has less stitches than you have on your needles, simply divide those extra stitches into 2 and garter stitch them at each side of your piece. So, for example, you’re following a pattern which requires blocks of 5sts: the nearest number to 82 that is divisible by 5 is 80, so your set pattern goes across the central 80 stitches, and you simply K1 at the beginning & end of each row for that set.

Most of all, have fun! Experiment – if you find a stitch or colour you prefer, go for it!
