Sheriff Howdy is looking for a deputy! He is quick to knit if you are looking for a fun weekend project. You will only need to use four stitches to make your toy (knit, purl, a k2tog decrease and kfb increase).

THE PATTERN INCLUDES: Row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making Howdy, 9 photos, a list of abbreviations and explanation of some techniques, a materials list and recommended yarns. The pattern is 5 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: The doll is knitted flat on straight knitting needles. You will need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, change colours at the ends of a row (knit stripes) and sew seams.
The hat incorporates a three-needle bind off (although you could use a regular cast off and sew the hat seam if you prefer, instructions for both are included in the pattern).
The band on the hat is a single crochet chain but if you do not know how to crochet you could embroider the hat band or tie a length of yarn around the hat instead.

  • A pair of straight 3.75mm knitting needles (US 5)
  • A 3.75mm (US F/5) crochet hook
  • DK yarn (double knitting or light worsted weight); less than 25g in each colour
  • Toy filling
