FINISHED SIZE:

62” x 34” (158 cm x 87 cm)

MATERIALS:

Expression Fiber Arts Luster Sport yarn

The sample is shown in our Coastal Hues kit, and it used approximately 1052 yards (962 m) total: Color A: 352 yards (322 m) and Color B-Color F: 140 yards (128 m) each color.

If those colors aren’t available, any from this category will work.

NEEDLES:

US size 7 (4.5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge. Circular needles are recommended to accommodate larger number of stitches.

SKILL LEVEL:

Adventurous Beginner - For those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skill include center double decrease, knitting through the back loop, purling through the back loop, mid-row knitted cast-on, and placing beads with a small diameter crochet hook.

Notes From the Designer:

Shifting Sands was designed to be a lovely, flowing wrap to wear on all your beachy adventures. It is made with our Luster Sport yarn. The pattern is a simple eight-row repeat and can be customized to fit your body. The wrap features beads and drop stitches for additional interest. Shifting Sands can be styled multiple ways and is perfect for wearing poolside as a swimsuit coverup or just lounging around the house with an iced drink in your hand.

  • Click here to watch a video on how to make this wrap, add the beads, and seam the panels.
  • Additional CO stitches and row repeats can be added to the wrap, but may require additional yardage and beads.
  • I strongly recommend a high quality seed bead for this type of bead work. Because they are worked into stitches, it isn’t possible to reapply a broken bead without cutting the yarn and remaking that part of the FO. A high quality bead, such as the Dyna-Mites or Miyuki brands will hold up to much heavier use and incidental contact.
