The Silver Dragon Cowl was inspired by the texture and image of overlapping dragon scales. It’s designed to be adjustable – you can let it hang, or wrap it around your neck twice for a snugger fit!

Please note, this pattern is available in Knit Now Issue 109, which can be found in both digital and print versions. Print Version can be ordered from, while digital versions can be found at

Pattern Notes

The sample is shown in size M, and knit in the colourway “Mustard”.

The cowl is knit in the round from bottom to top. The edges will have a natural slight curl to them, even after blocking, because of the nature of the lace.

When looking for a substitute yarn, any fingering or sport weight yarn would substitute well, I’d suggest a wool or wool-blend yarn.

Note that gauge and yarn weight are both flexible for this pattern, though it will change the appearance and/or size of the finished object, as well, as the amount of yarn required.

Techniques Used:
increases: yo
decreases: cdd, k2togtbl
twisted stitches
long-tail cast on
working in the round
