Simple Winter Cowl
I made the first version of this cowl a few years ago to match my favorite Simple Winter Hat made with bright blue Malabrigo Rasta. I wanted a cowl that kept me warm, hugged my neck, blocked the wind and didn’t droop - and most importantly, since I was on a budget at the time, I wanted it to only use one ball of my precious hand dyed super bulky yarn.
I wear this cowl 3 seasons out of the year in northeast Minnesota - for me, it stands up without sagging down to block the wind so my hands can be warm in my pockets. If you find you like a cowl that lays a little looser, or one that stands a little taller you can easily adjust this pattern to do so. The pattern is written for one size, but instructions for easily adapting it are included.
The cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up.
Hat patterns featured here are The Snowflake Hat
Stratification Hat, Dancing Waters Hat, and The Devil’s Kettle Hat, all available in my Ravelry Shop as well.
