A half size or 50g skein is the perfect way to trial run a yarn you’re considering for a sweater. Why not turn your swatch into a gift-able item? These mitts don’t take much longer than swatching, and are pretty, delicate, and highlight yarns of many different textures.

Sizes
Small (Medium, Large, X-Large)

Finished Measurements
Hand Circumference: 7.5 (8.25, 9.25, 10)“ / 19 (21, 23.5, 25.5) cm

Yardage
140 (155, 170, 185) yds / 128 (142, 155, 169) meters of DK-weight yarn.

If replacing with another yarn, I’d recommend farm yarns that are rustic, but soft, to achieve a similar look, or a nice woolen handspun 2-ply. If you would like crisper stitches, change to a yarn that has more plies but the same gauge to get a totally different and very elegant looking mitt. Luxury blends would be fantastic here, too!

I have included some alternate suggestions in the book:
