SITSIJAKK
This roosimine cardigan is inspired by the Sitsijakk blouse part of the traditional clothing on the Estonian island Kihnu. A Sitsijakk is recognizable from embellishment in the form of zigzag teeth like bits of fabric that run down each side of the button band of the cropped blouse.

PATTERN NOTES
This set-in sleeve cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down and then steeked. The cardigan is initially worked flat beginning with the back followed by the shoulders. Stitches for the sleeve are then picked between the back and shoulders to join together. The cardigan is then joined in the round once the stitches for the back and front have been increased including stitches for a steek.

A repeating Roosimine motif inspired by the Estonian island Kihnu is worked on the front either side of the steek stitches. Two separate balls are used for roosimine motif either side of steek. Contrast colour yarn is held double for roosimine

The cardigan is steeked to create the opening and a rib button and button hole bands are worked with main colour. The centre stitch of the steek to cut is a purl stitch. The steek sandwich method is used to conceal the steek edges inside the button and buttonhole bands.
