Six-Sided-Square Coatigan
Granny squares - but not like your granny made ‘em!
This ingenious design uses two six-sided squares (not hexagons!!) to make a comfy, stylish jacket. The feature patch packets are five-sided squares embellished with optional tassels.
You can have a hood or turn-back lapels and you can choose the length, from cropped jacket to knee-length coatigan.
Also (ta-da!) NO SEWING!
Yes, there is absolutely NO sewing up required. Instead, you will crochets invisible seams . (Look at the pictures if you don’t believe me. Can you see the centre back seam?)
PLUS! Three bonus patterns of matching shoulder bags made from 2-sided, 4-sided or 5-sided squares.
You can use any yarn, and hook and any gauge. You simply work until you have the required size. This pattern is infinitely adaptable - guaranteed to fit with minimal maths.
The model is UK size 20 and used 5 x 150g DK on 5mm hook for a knee-length coatigan and bag.
I used a colour-changing yarn, but you could also work different rounds in different colours.
