Skinny Roadrunner is an elegant and versatile shawlette version of my previous Roadrunner Cowl patterns. Same perky points and simple to knit because the points are part of each row of knitting. Perfect for beginners!

I am looking forward to wearing this as the days become warmer and Spring approaches.

Pick your favourite colour and knit this skinny shawlette as a light and airy accent of colour. Skinny Roadrunner is elegantly classic dressed up and perfectly casual with jeans and a T-shirt.

Knit with light fingering makes this a perfect transition piece between seasons or light enough across your shoulders to be worn indoors at the office.

Skinny Roadrunner uses one skein of Malabrigo Light Fingering Sock and is knit from tip to tip. You start with three stitches and you finish with three stitches. The pattern can be used with a heavier fingering weight yarn and suggests weighing your yarn at certain points. No need to play yarn chicken. Well you could but you will win and the chicken won’t.

This pattern has been tech edited and test knit in a variety of fingering weight yarns. The testers have great project pages to help you see how theirs turned out and how they adjusted it to suit their stash.

With special thanks to my tech editor and test knitters. You have helped me to write the best pattern I can and put the joy in the process!

Malabrigo also gets a big thank you for yarn support. I love knitting with Malabrigo and have plans for more!

Finished Measurements:
After blocking: Neck edge is 170 cm/ 67” from tip to tip. From centre of neck edge to centre point is 30.5 cm/ 12”
Gauge: Unblocked: 28 stitches x 38 rows = 10 cm/ 4” square in stocking stitch.

Yarn used:
Malabrigo Sock – Light Fingering - 100 grams, 402 m/ 440 yds.
1 skein # 415 Matisse Blue (10 grams leftover).

Needles and Supplies:
3.5 mm/US 4 needles or size required to obtain gauge. Straight needles or circular if preferred.
1 clip on marker.
2 stitch markers.
Tapestry needle.

The amount of yarn used is based on my sample for the design but will depend on the yarn you choose. This can be knit at a different gauge depending on your yarn and drape desired. Weighing your yarn, checking progress and knitting more/fewer points will ensure that you have enough to knit the shawl.
