Hook up a Sleepy Amigurumi Octopus with this free crochet pattern, designed by Sharon at Cotton Pod. (Read all about our Sleepy Octopuses for Small & Mighty Babies below).

This pattern includes clear instructions, photos to guide you and is written in UK crochet terminology. Perfect for a beginner plus.

This pattern suggests using DROPS Paris cotton, on a 3.5 mm hook.

The pattern includes the instructions for two sizes of Octopus. The larger Sleepy Octopus was designed for my daughter when she asked me to make her an octopus. The smaller Teeny Tiny octopus was designed in collaboration with Small & Mighty Babies - when they asked me to adapt the pattern to make it suitable for babies born a little too soon, you can read more about this below.

Cotton Pod and Small and Mighty Babies

Here at Cotton Pod we are extremely proud to be collaborating with ‘Small & Mighty Babies’, an organisation that helps to support the families of ‘babies born a little too soon’.

Our Sleepy Octopus is designed to comfort & calm premature babies and has been endorsed by Small & Mighty Babies. (Please note: it is the final product made from the pattern, using the materials suggested, that has been endorsed, not simply the pattern alone, the octopus will need to be sterilised and pass checks at the hospital before it is given to a premature baby. Take care that the tentacles do not exceed 22cm in length if you are giving directly to a baby, for safety reasons).

If you would like the Sleepy Octopus you make from our pattern to find itself in the hands of a premature baby, keeping their Mighty life calm, courageous and loved by a stranger from afar, please get in touch here at Cotton Pod (sharon.sales@cottonpod.co.uk) or contact Joanne at http://www.smallandmightybabies.com/landing-page-example/
