This idea came about through wanting to design a headband to cover up the worst of my hair, which isn’t doing well with not having a proper haircut since the start of lockdown! But I didn’t come up with anything concrete until my best friend told me she currently has the same problem, so I set about designing and knitting a headband for her. I’ve written up the pattern, for free, below, for anyone with the same issue!

I used one ball of Drops Nord for the whole headband, in the colourway Old Pink. It’s 45% Alpaca, 30% Polyamide and 25% Wool, which is the perfect mix for something that needs to be strong but somewhat hard wearing. I did play yarn chicken with this design, with only about 50cm of yarn left over at the end. This means that it’s a great single-skein pattern.

This is an easy pattern for starting to learn to knit in the round, or for more experienced knitters who would like a straightforward pattern.

This pattern is completely free, but if you’d like to buy me a coffee, head over here.

Size: To fit a head around 55cm in circumference, although the pattern can be altered. If you’d like the headband to be bigger, I’d suggest using 2 balls of Drops Nord (or more than 170 metres of your chosen yarn)
