This hat is the best of - well, maybe not ALL worlds, but at least several worlds!

  • The eyelet ridges pattern adds enough visual interest that this pattern looks great with solid and tonal yarns, but…

  • It’s also plain enough to be a great canvas for fun yarns like gradients and handpaints.

  • The eyelet ridges also mean that you have a little more fun with the knitting than miles of plain ol’ stockinette, but…

  • It’s also simple enough that the knitting really flies along.

  • and it now includes 5 sizes, from child through adult XL

Difficulty: Beginner

Skills needed for this pattern: knit, purl, yarn over, knit 2 together; this hat is worked in the round.

Sizes:
XS/ child up to about age 10, finished circumference 17”/ 43 cm
S/ teen or women’s snug, finished circumference 19”/ 48 cm
M/ women’s regular or men’s snug, finished circumference 20.5”/ 52 cm
L/ men’s regular, finished circumference 22.5”/ 56 cm
XL/ women’s extra large or men’s large, finished circumference 24”/ 61 cm

Of course, individuals vary in head size, so knowing your/ your recipient’s head size, if possible, will be your best guide to size choice.

Yarn selection: This hat takes about 175 - 200 yards sock/fingering yarn (gauge 28 sts/ 4”=10cm). The instructions also include the possibility of a folded brim, in which case you need additional yardage - around another 40-50 yards.

Pattern support: Designer email is included in the pattern in case you run into problems or questions.
