Slowdance Shawl is a shallow, medium-sized shawl that lives and breathes movement. Like the weightless steps of a dance, waves of texture flow effortlessly across its triangular shape.

The shawl is worked sideways, from tip to tip, in one continuous piece, allowing the movement of the stitches to flow uninterrupted. It begins and ends with just a few stitches, so there are no special cast-ons or bind-offs to worry about. You gradually increase along one side for the first half, then decrease to complete the shape in the second.

A harmonious blend of stitches creates a pattern that changes and sways with the rhythm of a slow melody, carrying that gentle movement all the way through the shawl. The pattern is fully charted and includes corresponding written instructions, so you can choose whichever way you prefer to work.

Using approximately 350–400 m (383–438 yds) of fingering-weight yarn, Slowdance Shawl makes a lovely one-skein project. Just right for that beautiful skein you may have been saving for something special.

The pattern is available in English, Swedish, and German.

Whether you knit yours for summer in a light cotton or linen blend, or for winter in a cosy woolly yarn, I’d love to see your version! Share it with #SlowdanceShawl and tag me @thedrizzleofhoney on Instagram so I can admire your work.
