This pattern is written using U.S. terminology and is written in English.

Skill Level: Intermediate (there are photo and video guides contained within the pattern to help provide clarity and visual aid).

Materials Needed: 5 weight yarn (approximately: 4.7oz/133g/74yards), 5 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.
Optional Materials: Pre-made purse chain/strap, magnetic bag closure, fabric (plus needle and thread or sewing machine) for lining. There are recommendations within the pattern for the optional purse chain and magnetic closure.

The Snail Shell Purse can be modified in a variety of ways: instructions include recommendations for pre-made purse chains but also has video instructions for a crocheted bag strap -- or you can choose to use no strap at all and make it a clutch! You can line your purse with fabric or leave it unlined (using the recommended yarn weight and hook size creates close, tight stitches that do not leave any gaps); the pattern also contains recommendations for magnetic bag closures, but you can also choose to leave your bag open. And one of the best parts? It has an exterior pocket! The shell’s spiral pattern doubles as both a defining detail AND a small pocket for easy access to smaller items like lip colors, small compacts and more.
