Winter is my favourite time of year. I love to be cocooned in all the cosy sweaters and big scarves and the inspiration for these mittens comes from the snow I love so much.

The Snowball Mitten is knitted from the fingers down to the cuff and covered in nupps to create a snowy scene. My suggested yarn was chosen to create a light, luxuriously soft mitten but they also look great knitted in worsted, DK or fingering weight yarns from your stash.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hand circumference: 7” / 18 cm (unstretched)
Mitten length: 9” / 23 cm
Finished Cuff length: 1.75” / 4.5 cm

You need approximately 132 meters (144 yards) to make a pair of Snowball Mittens. Suggested yarns: Snefnug by CaMaRose
(two balls needed) or Air by Drops Design (one ball) or any similar yarn that matches the correct gauge. This pattern was designed with a light, airy yarn in mind but it looks awesome in other yarn weights and is a great option for using up your stash. Suggested options could be one strand of worsted weight yarn or hold different yarn weights together (eg. one strand of DK together with one strand of fingering weight or three strands of fingering weight yarn), but do a swatch to check gauge and go up or down a needle size if needed. You can also experiment with making the nupps and / or cuff different yarn colors. Happy Knitting Time!!
