When my husband requested felted one-fingered mitts for Christmas, I replied doubtfully, “I don’t know, I’ve never seen any like that but maybe I can find a pattern,” while silently thinking, “Yes! A knitted gift he can really use!” My husband is of the hot-blooded variety - he never wears sweaters or scarves or hats any of the other items knitters usually make for their loved ones. His only concession to the cold is warm gloves for ice-fishing or snowblowing. He doesn’t like mittens because he has to take them off to start the snowblower or check his ice fishing traps. A long time ago, he had some deerskin one-fingered mitts that he loved. I don’t know what ever happened to those mitts, but he’s been looking in vain for a replacement pair for years. When a quick Internet search failed to produce any patterns for felted one-fingered mitts, I decided to design them myself.
