This hat is both cute and cozy! The simple cables look like feathers, and I couldn’t help but name this pattern after the snowy owl. This pattern is fun but not too complicated, perfect for both beginners and more advanced knitters.

I have provided instructions for 6 sizes, for which the finished hat is approximately 17”/43cm (18.5”/47cm, 20”/51cm, 21.5”/54.5cm, 22.8”/58cm, 24”/61cm) in circumference around the brim. You should choose a size that will give 2-3”/5-7.5cm negative ease so that the hat will hold onto your head snugly. The hat sizes are approximately 8”/20cm (8.5”/21.5cm, 8.5”/21.5cm, 9”/23cm, 9”/23cm, 9.5”/24cm) tall.

The best part? You don’t need a cable needle! The caliper cables are easy enough to drop them off the needle, then pick them back up when you need to knit the stitch.
